Dear Member,

AMIE is never been approved by AICTE.
AMIE, by virtue of the AICTE Act, does not come under AICTE as this is non formal course and AICTE deals only with formal
courses in Engineering, Management and Pharmacy. Hence recognition by AICTE is not applicable

Non formal courses are assessed and recognised by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt of India through its own High Level Committee.
MHRD is the only authority to recognise such courses. There are 6 professional engineering institutions in India whose courses are recognised by MHRD.
These include Institution of Electronic & Telecommunication Engineers, Indian Institution of Chemical Engineers, Aeronautical Society of India, Indian Institute of Metal etc.

IEI courses are recognised by UGC, UPSC and many other institutions like IITs & IIMs independently as they have independent Academic Councils for recognition of programmes
for admissions in their programmes.

But as per Official Memorandum by MHRD in 2012,candidates enrolled with IEI with permanent
enrollment up to May 31, 2013 only will be considered in force, pertaining to their course for equivalence in Central Government posts.

A writ petition was filed by IEI in Delhi High Court for quashing the orders of MHRD which is still in process.

So this is true that candidated who enrolled after May 31, 2013 have no recognition for AMIE, but in my point of view they
still need at least 2 or 3 years to complete their AMIE and till then AMIE will get fresh recognition.

Good luck.

The next hearing for the case is : 15 July 2019.

Hope this time they close the case in favor of AMIE / IEI
