Hi All,

Can anyone of you who have had experience in appearing for Engineering Mathematics Exam, guide me in preparing for it? I am still quite confused as this is for the first time i am appearing for any of the AMIE exams. I have applied to attempt three subjects viz. Computing and informatics, Society and Environment and Engineering Mathematics.

After reviewing (and after submitting my exam form) i found the syllabus of Engineering Mathematics to be too overwhelming so as to be completed within a period of 3 months. (3 months from Feb - now only 2 left).

I just want to know whether it's still possible for me to finish the syllabus of Mathematics, given the fact that i am doing a full time job and i can spare just 2 hours everyday for maths (because of my job schedule) and during sunday's & saturday's i can spare at most 6 hours each day, and only 2 more months are left ?

Can anyone advice me on this on whether is it possible to cover the syllabus or not? or shall i postpone Maths for Winter-2009 exams? Uptil now i have covered only the basics of mathematics like functions and graphs, continuity etc.

Thanks

HI,

Currently we have mathematics in Non-Diploma stream..  u enrolled in non-diploma stream?

I know Engineering mathematics is little bit difficult. But if you are good in mathematics and you are familiar with it then you can try or if you are a new learner then it will be very difficult. This 2 month time is only enough to rewind it.

Do you have anybody to teach it? Then it will be somewhat easy.

Thanks

Hi Praveen,

I have enrolled for non-diploma stream. Though i did some of these mathematics topics some 9 years back, when i was doing my graduation, since then i have lost touch. During my school days i used to be good in maths, but i hardly remember anything about them right now.

I would say that i remember just 5% of what i did during my school and college days.

So 95% of the syllabus is completely new to me. Apart from that as i told you that i could spare only 2 hours everyday (the rest being spent in my job), so i haven't enrolled for some tuition, its purely self-study on my part and nobody is there to teach me. I am reading from one book (calculus by finney and george) and from the internet.

I would also like to know one more thing, since i have applied for mathematics (in my examination form), is it mandatory that i appear for the maths exam? can i skip it this time and would i be allowed to attempt this maths paper during my next appearance(which is the winter 2009 Exams) ??

Thanks

you can skip it, no problem.. concentrate on other subjects.  You can concentrate on Mathematics after giving exams of this sem.

Best of luck for you exam.
