Institute of engineers itself is a council like AICTE so no need for AICTE approval for AMIE.

As much I know, AICTE do not recognize AMIE Equivalent to BTech. It refers matter to MHRD as per letter available on IEI site. If anyone having copy of letter in which AICTE has recognized AMIE equivalent to BE/BTech, Kindly provide via email or link.

Guys, dot get misunderstood

Institution of engineers (India) is one of the statutory councils of india.. thers no doubt in that. But anyhow Still AICTE has not approved AMIE course as equivalent to BE.
The recognition is not for our course.

We can unite and urge AICTE to approve the AMIE:

Dear friends ,
AMIE was approved by AICTE for Lecturership to Diploma subject to clearing of ME / MTech.  This was about 3 to 4 year before & detail letter from AICTE is available at HQ & Local Centers on demand.

However now there is one dangerous situation in front of us about De-recognizaton from MHRD & for that purpuse we have to stood behind our council integrally.

With Best Regards,
Pravin V. Tembe

Dear friends, I contacted a person of AMIE's cochin branch about this issue, he told me that the issue is in court now and it has extended the last date up to August 6. After that they will take a decision I think. On this information we can assume that, IEI is fighting in the court for us. So that they do not change the recognition details from their website.

He also told that the students who are going to be or already had joined/enrolled before August 6 2013 will have no any issues. It will not affect them,

AMIE is not coming under AICTE or UGC. AICTE and IEI are direcly coming under MHRD. So AMIE doesnot require the approval from AICTE. But now AICTE is trying to bring all the technical courses under them, so the MHRD is trying to withdraw its recognition.

The main problem is AICTE is only conducting technical courses with regular basis. It will not accept the correspondance courses. In this situation we cannot predict what will happen....
