I have completed my AMIE (ECE) in 2006. I am working in IT industry (Sofware) for last 6 years now. i am very thankful to the institution for providing me a good base to get fit into the industry.

I am facing one problem while applying to the big companies like Infosys and TCS. Generally i mention my qualification as AMIE - ECE (Eq to B.Tech) in my resume. for last 3 times they have rejected my profile mentioning that " you need to have a basic bachelor degree (full time)".

Could you pls guide me on this or give some suggestions that what should i say if they ask me that whether it is regular degree? shall we term it as a distance education course or correspondence degree or part time or ?

Pls reply, your reply(guidance) is very critical for me to plan further.

This is  correspondence degree. It is equivalent to B.Tech but its not (FULL TIME COURSE).
As per my knowledge not all but selected companies like NTPC,SAIL,BHEL etc accept this course title as normal .
So,before putting your resume ,please make sure that whether this correspondance course is acceptable to them or not.
Thanks with regard.

I am not sure who introduced using membership grade as Academic qualification.Your membership grade may be Grad IE,Associate IE,Associate MIE,MIE,FIE etc and when applying for certain employment if you start using those membership grade, then you would take hiring team in circles which will not be useful to you since you are seeking employment and they are at liberty to accept or deny your application for whatever reason they may give.Academic qualification can only be written equated to local country equivalency and should not be mixed with membership grade which is attained based on education & experience.I believe many of you must be aware that even other BE/BTech/BSc Engineering can apply for AMIE/MIE/AIE/FIE Grade and achieve the membership certificate based on academics and experience, achievements etc.But that doesn't mean that they have passed Sec A& B examination & coursework of IE India. This is where you need to be focussed on as IE India.Use only local equivalent title of the region.IE India Graduates when licensed in British Columbia in Canada, there qualification was listed as Bachelor of Engineering  (BAe) with APEG BC (Professional Engineer Council of British Columbia,Canada).
Similarly if you successfully become European Professional Engineer ,then you receive seperate certificate which lists your Graduate of IE India as BSc(Engineering) as Academic Title from FEANI Brussels (European Federation of Professional Engineers Association). But this is something difficult to attain unless people go through regular process of licensing in European Union and it may take 7 years after Professional licensed in European Union before any body would become eligible for award of same. That means one has to be wait around 15 years professional practise in one of European or North American region before they can be licensed with FEANI and are able to receive the FEANI Certificate which will list Graduate of IE India as academic title: BSc Engineering.

Now coming down to issue whether full /part time, professional courses whether in Engineering or CA or CS are not categorized under category. That's why your qualification award doesn't mention anything like full time/part time/distance learning. But as per law of AICTE you are not permitted to complete it before 4 years for 10+2 student and 3 years for Diploma in Engineering holders. The maximum can be 6 years for Sec A & 6 years for sec B.Distance learning courses conducted by Universities have course assignments, weekly, monthly lesson evaluations through study center .This is not applicable to AMIE Graduate,so you don't fall under distance learning category. This was clarified by DEC(Distance Education council,Govt of India) long time back. Moreover distance learning Degree in Engineering program don't qualify for Professional Engineering licensing in USA,Saudi Arabia,Australia and APEGBC Canada. But AMIE and other professional Degree holders are eligible for same since they don't fall under distance learning category.Course work may be non formal but duration of 4 years for 10+2 is set guideline by AICTE.This is not exempted either in case of IE India or Aeronautical Society of India.

TCS and Infosys has number of professional degree holders working for them at their various sites. Its likely possible that individual manager's may have their own issue. But as I mentioned above you just cannot mix up between academic certificate and membership certificate. Both are two different things altogether. If your course was part time or distance learning than you won't be having set minimum standard of 4 years for 10+2 and 3 year for Diploma in Engineering as lateral entry.Part time courses are of much longer duration as minimum standard compared to what is set for Professional Degree program of IE India,AeSI,IETE,IME etc.

Hope the above information helps.

All the best and good luck.

Dear Sir,
I think this is a very helpful information to all of us who are attending exam of Sec. A and B. I attend AMIE with a believe of academic qualification. In our certificate, it's mention that passing sec. A and B is eq. to EB. So we cant' right in our CV BE and IE(I) in the name of college or university. It's not possible logically?

After completion of AMIE degree (It’s equal to BE) with AMIE, can we appear any additional exam/test(or register) with engineering universities to covert AMIE degree to their university degree (I mean BE/B.tech)??
Or Do we have any other options??

So no approval issue…
Friends share your thoughts and experience….

Hello All,

I am left with 3 subjects in AMIE and i have applied for MS in France (Mechanics, Turbulence). But for some reason, even though i have good grades, i have been rejected.

Can anyone confirm if AMIE is considered in European countries and if it is considered, what documents am i supposed to send them apart from grade cards.

The masters classes starts from September and people who are in the last semesters are eligible to apply for the masters.

I am really disappointed. Universities do not give me a reason fr rejection.

Please help me if you know more about this subject.

I've to fill an application form in which in the qualification column they are asking "method of delivery" of said qualification.

Whether it should be distance learning, taught programme, examinations/assignments ,coursework(no formal examination).

can anyone tell what to write there?    what sort of delivery method AMIE come into?
