The validity of St membership is 6 years for section A and 6 years for section b but.. there is an option for extending your membership if you couldn't complete the section A/B
within the stipulated period ...
visit the website ieindia.org for reference

Dear Vishnu,
Small correction on Pravin reply, now there is no provision for extension of 2 years. It was only for old scheme and for transition phase students only.
And for such transitory block candidates already expired in winter 2010.After winter 2010 exam there is no such candidate of have 2 years extension. And in this new scheme there is no any provision of 2 years extension.

Please go through the statement of IE india regarding

EXAMINATION RE-REGISTRATION AFTER
EXPIRY OF SIX YEARS IN WINTER 2010 EXAMINATION

The Council, at its 614th meeting held at Srinagar, approved the Examination Re-registration, after the expiry of extension period for another six years. Candidates in transitory block, who would be unsuccessful in Section A/Section B Examination after the expiry of extension period of two years, are eligible to apply for Examination Re-registration. Candidates in transitory block, who failed to apply for extension of two-year period, shall also be eligible to apply for Premature Examination Re-registration.

For candidates in transitory block only, whose extended period of two years will expire in Winter 2010 Examination, Examination Re-registration of six-year period shall be counted with effect from Summer 2011 Examination.

Before applying for Examination Re-registration, Candidates are advised to read the following carefully:

Candidates in transitory block, who failed to pass Section A Examination even in the extended period of two years, shall be permitted to appear in Section A Examination afresh in revised scheme only. Subject(s) exemption(s) secured during six-year and extended period of two-years, if any, shall be forfeited. They would be required to pass Section A Examination afresh as per the revised scheme within the stipulated period of six years.

Hi upendra,
thanks for the info.

If the candidates are not able to complete within 6 years, they have to apply for reregistration(another 6 years), in that case whatever subjects they have cleared before will get canceled & they have to write fresh in future.

pls find the IEI journal for details.
