dear friend,
visit book stall and ask for material science text book for sec-A.and ask old question paper set.In the back side of this question set you will find the name of author of text book for material science.But I have read the book of O.P.Khanna (author name),i enjoyed a lot to read this text book and best among others in my opinion.

I recommend you to purchase Material science & engineering book by IP Singh.
Really simple language book.
hope you need not any notes after getting this book
