The imp topics of Computing and Informatics -

1. Detailed C,C++ programming.
2. Networking basics - LAN, WAN, TCP/IP.
3. Number system - Conversion of Numbers from one base to another, Boolean Algebra.
4. Logic Gates, Realization of NAND gate using basic gates, flip-flops, Adder/Subtracter.
5. Computer elements - I/O Devices, CPU, Memory-Types(primary, secondary).
6. Compiler, Interpreter - introduction
7. Operating System - Intro, types.

Material Science -

1. Defects in solids.
2. Diffusion in solids.
3. Crystal Geometry and Imperfections(Very Imp)
4. Phase diagrams(Very Imp) - especially Fe-Fe3C phase diagram.
5. Heat treatment and its types.
6. Deformation of metals - elastic, plastic deformation, slip, twin, cold and hot working, etc.
7. Electronic properties - Magnetism(di-, para-, ferro-magnetism), conductivity, resistivity, Semiconductors-Intrinsic & Extrinsic.
8. Ceramics and polymer materials.

The list is not exhaustive and you should try to cover the syllabus as much as you can, try to clear you fundamentals and concepts with deep study of the topics, take help of internet, books, videos for a clear understanding. IE examiner checks your clarity of concepts, this is what i have experienced.

These are the topics which are fundamental and generally questions are asked from these topics.
But as i have already mentioned, this list is not exhaustive and one should try to cover the syllabus as much as possible.
But if u cover even these topics thoroughly, you gain a sound knowledge of the subject, enough to pass the exam.

Good Luck.

IMP IMP
1. Defects in solids.
2. Diffusion in solids.
3. Crystal Geometry and Imperfections(Very Imp)
4. Phase diagrams(Very Imp) - especially Fe-Fe3C phase diagram. 20 MARKS
5. Heat treatment and its types.
6. Deformation of metals - elastic, plastic deformation, slip, twin, cold and hot working, etc. 20 MARKS

This is more than enough if you are finished studying these 6 chapters and you will get beyond 50 marks ..i finished in first attempt. Thanks to Fe-Fe3C it saved me
