Government sector (IOCL) vacancy,,AMIEans not eligible!!!!!!

Postby skyblue » Wed Nov 10, 2010 9:18 am

Bishnujee sir & all,
Indian Oil Corporation Ltd is recruting around 300 engineers in 2011 based on GAte score. IOCL eligibility criteria clearly mentions that only full time courses/ regular courses students are eligible to apply that means AMIEans are not eligible.

I don't understand the logic of testing students, they are taking students based on GATE score with additional personnal interviews & group discussion then why it is matter that student has passed full time/part time /corrospondance???????

AMIEans are experienced then BE. If government sector will follow such eligibility criteria then private sector will never accept AMIEans. Our career groth will hampered if things are going in such a way. we are loosing opportunities.

IOCL eligibility criteria.

Educational Qualification
Minimum educational qualification for employment in above mentioned positions are:

Candidates should have passed qualifying degree examinations and awarded bachelor’s degree in engineering/ technology in the above mentioned disciplines (full time regular courses only) from recognized Indian Universities / Institutes.

Candidates (belonging to general and OBC category) should have secured minimum 65% marks in qualifying degree examinations. It is relaxed to ‘pass class’ for SC/ST/PH candidates.

Dear Komal,

I understand your concern.I believe IOCL has used GATE examination instead of conducting own written test.Your concern is very much valid why they should not be conducting there own written test.I believe that vast majority of IE India or other Professional Societies Graduates are not having the Grade percentage of 65% plus.So even if the rules are amended,I believe that it will not benefit of IE India Engineers or even other Professional Societies Engineers. The rules with IOCL examination system for its recruitment has been same for last 15 years. So I believe even if we push through to include Professional Societies Graduates,it will be ultimately noted that majority of Engineers will not qualify for there recruitment.

I will keep you updated in this regard as and when we make progress in this regard.

All the best and good luck!

Respected sir,
Thanks for your concern & attention in this regard.

I am just wondering that AMIE student is eligible for Gate & after securing good marks why we people are not eligible for government job.

I have completed 10 subjects of AMIE with average GPA 8.7 , i think it is very good score as compared to BE but still i will not get chance to prove my self. GATE is common exam for all graduates, student with less score in GATE & did BE will get chance for IOCL but i will not.

I would have agrred if their selection process in based on IOCL written test but they are selecting students based on GATE which is valid everywhere.

Many students like me will loose opportunity.

Your efforts are highly appericated.

Thanks you sir.
