Hi,
As both UGC & AICTE comes under MHRD, and the professional qualiciations(like AMIE) is duly recognized by MHRD, the institutions comes under AICTE/UGC should inturn accept these qualifications. See the facts below
1) Majority of the institutions in India are accepting AMIE straight-a-way for its mater degree programs as eligibility criteria (including IIT's and IIM's).
2) But in few others like Anna University, Chennai and IIT Bombay expressing the requirement of additional experience for their PG programmes. In IISc, it requires BSc + AMIE as eligible criteria for ME programs.
3) Very few other institutions rejecting AMIE for PG programs.
The thing here is, these amendment of eligibility criteria is formed by the councils formed by the respective university/institution after considering nature of course curriculam & entry qualifications.
I recently joined Anna University to M.E in Embedded Systems based on my AMIE qualification. Here as well untill 2009, there is no restrictions for ME as AMIE is enough. But now they enforced 2+ years post-AMIE industrial experience. We need to break these kinds of hurdles by putting joint efforts. It should be accepted that IE like institutions offered an alternate way of achieving higher qualification but it is making thousand questions when we are treated as second grade qualifiers as we are putting more efforts than an ordinary degree course. Any thouts?
Regars,
Shan
